Three Words that Changed our Hearts

Jonathan makes fun of me at times because I’ve always been intrigued by the Amish. In eighth grade I had a final research project on a topic of my choice. I chose the Amish. Whenever we are passing through Indiana we visit the Amish towns along the way and stock up on Amish peanut butter. I could talk about this people group all day long but this post isn’t really about the Amish - Although God did use my knowledge about their culture to teach me a much needed lesson.
By now a lot of you may know that Jonathan and I are adopting. We are extremely excited! We’ve always been on board with adopting but there has been a mental roadblock we couldn’t seem to get past. How are we going to afford this adoption? They say the average adoption costs $35-$50,000 and to be honest, at times those numbers can be paralyzing.
We knew God was calling us to adopt and we were acutely aware that we didn’t have all of the funds, so we prayed and asked The Lord to give us wisdom. And He did.
As He so often does God answered my prayer with a question - “Do you remember when you asked ME to build your family?”
Of course - We prayed that you would build our family in your timing and in your way. We prayed that you would be glorified in it all and that our future family would in part reflect your heavenly family.
It was then that He reminded me of the Amish (you knew they would find their way back into the story ;) When the Amish need to build a barn the whole community comes to help. Some help with the labor, others with supplies, others with food and encouragement. It’s a community event and with everyone’s help they are able to build a barn in no time. It’s truly remarkable.
After dwelling on the Amish for a few minutes I soon began to see what God was showing me. He knew we were trying to figure out how to come up with the funding on our own and He graciously humbled my prideful heart by showing me that in His Kingdom and in His Family - We Build Together.
So here we are, openly acknowledging that we need your help building our family. We need people to support, to encourage, to pray and to give. We cannot build our family on our own and to be honest we don’t want to anymore - we want you by our side.
So if you can help in any way we would love for you to join our construction crew. We want to build our family on a foundation of prayer so please keep the prayers coming. We are also in need of supplies - To get the framework started (upfront consultant costs) we need to raise $5,000 in the next few weeks. If you would like to contribute to our family building fund you can do so in the following ways.
